Humans Are Flowers

2z2's new album blooms with electronic experimentation

2z2 — Humans Are Flowers cover

Since forming in 2023, independent electronic duo 2z2 [ @the2z2 ] made up of sukiki [ @sukiki.zj ] and ARVII [ @arviiarviiarvii ] have quickly become one of the most exciting new voices in Chinese electronic music. Writing, producing, and shaping every aspect of their work independently, the duo blur the lines between art pop, club music, and alternative electronics while building a sound entirely their own.

Following their acclaimed debut ERA*, 2z2 return with their second full-length album, 《人类是花》 (Humans Are Flowers). Across 12 tracks, the album explores growth, identity, and everyday life through the metaphor of flowers not as plants, but as symbols of humanity's many forms of life and expression within 2z2's fictional "2NIVERSEE."

Musically, Humans Are Flowers moves effortlessly between shimmering electronic production, club rhythms, art pop, and heavier sonic textures, balancing polished sound design with deeply personal songwriting. While the duo's signature electronic palette remains, this record carries a noticeably warmer emotional core.

Standout tracks each reveal a different perspective. "DIVA" celebrates confidence by connecting square dancing with contemporary club culture, "EGO" approaches self-identity with playful humor, while "我总想着明天" (I Always Think About Tomorrow) closes the album with a hopeful reflection on an uncertain world.

Humans Are Flowers is a confident step forward for the duo and another reminder that some of the most compelling electronic music in China is being created completely independently.

GM recommends: Tracks 1, 2, 6, 8, 10, 12
