EPHEMERA

Amil Raja [@amilraja], a London-based electronic artist and member of the UK collective Asianpaper [@asianpaper], has been steadily carving out a unique space within the UK's underground music landscape. Drawing from the DNA of UK dubstep, R&B, house, and electronic music, Raja crafts immersive soundscapes that fuse older sonic traditions with contemporary production, reshaping familiar sounds into something distinctly modern.

Following a rollout that began last summer, Raja has finally unveiled his long-awaited debut tape, Ephemera. Marking his first deeply personal body of work as a standalone artist, the ten-track project serves as a sonic statement, showcasing the breadth of his influences, experiences, and evolving artistic identity. Throughout the tape, elements of UK dance music intertwine with traces of his South Asian heritage, creating a sound that feels both rooted and forward-looking.

As part of Asianpaper, Raja sits within a wider movement of South Asian artists pushing new ideas across music and culture. The collective is home to names including The Twins [ @waitareyoutwins ], thesoundchalkmakes [ @thesoundchalkmakes ], Jeremiah [ @jeremiahjim ], and Arran Ashan [ @arranashan ], all helping shape a new generation of artists emerging from the UK underground.

Beyond his solo work, Raja has frequently collaborated with fellow London artists including The Twins, Char Alice [ @charalice ], and Arran Ashan, while also appearing on platforms such as Hong Kong Community Radio [ @hkcronline ]. With Ephemera, however, the spotlight remains firmly on Raja himself—a project that not only captures where he is today, but hints at where he's headed next.
