On sophomore album “空拍“, Lan leaves a beat empty for himself

Lan [ @haotinglanlan ] (member of Chinese collective Human Register [ @humanregister ]) returns with his sophomore album, 空拍.
As Lan puts it, “这个世界是浮躁的，我也是浮躁的。” “The world is restless, and so am I.”
That feeling runs through 空拍. The title refers to leaving a beat empty, and for Lan, that empty beat becomes a space he wants to create in his own life, a moment to slow down, look around, and let his thoughts catch up with him. Instead of trying to fill every space, 空拍 lets some of it remain open.
The album also brings together people from Lan’s world, with appearances from ChalkyWong [ @chalkywong ] , User116 [ @__user116__ ], fellow Human Register members, Delphia! [ @hey_turn_it_off ], IsolYves [ @isolyves ], and more. Executive produced and mixed by zenexonly [ @zenexonly ], and mastered by Wade [ @iloveallmymics ]. Album visuals by @chrs_wyx and @pizza_zz___
His music has always been shaped by movement, but here, the pauses feel just as important as the sound itself. It’s a record about being caught in the speed of everything around you while trying to find a little stillness of your own.
We’ve known Lan through a lot of that movement. One thing he said that has stayed with us: maybe we’re just too high in the sky for people to see us right now, but eventually they’ll see us and understand what we’re doing.
空拍 feels like another side of that same journey. Sometimes moving forward also means knowing when to stop for a second.
